This soft, smooth wool/nylon sockyarn has been dyed in a traditional way, a tie-dye process. Historically the yarn was dyed either blue or red; the red looked like flames so it was called “Flame Yarn” or flammegarn.
The resulting fabric has flecks of light, something like a tweed but with a perfectly smooth fabric surface. It holds cables and stitch definition well in many types of patterning, but is lovely in smooth stockinette as well.
